About Natatia

Hello, my name is Natatia (she/her)

I have been pet sitting for just over 10 years now. I started out as a hobby sitter, watching for neighbors and friends during college. After experiencing some medical difficulties from neurodivergent burnout, I found Rover and decided I would start working on moving away from “hobby sitting”. That was in 2018!!

I learned a few things working through Rover, and I made some wonderful clients, some of whom I still work with today. But after hearing many stories from said clients about the different ways the platform had let them down. That was what motivated me to leave behind 166 five star reviews, take the knowledge I had gained in the last decade, and start something of my own.

In October of 2024, Familiar Pet Care was founded.

I mentioned “neurodivergent burn out”, but what is that? Well, to be fair, I hadn’t the slightest idea either when I was experiencing it! In short, I was struggling to fit into the world as the world expected me to show up. I had a hard time being myself, or even understanding who that was, and there were times it led to emotional outbursts because I simply didn’t understand my brain and I didn’t have the tools, and or, accommodations to function as my best, brightest self in the spaces I showed up day-to-day (especially in Food & Bev).

This may sound silly, but when I started working with animal’s full time, I began to notice how often their behavioral “issues” were linked to similar phenomenon that they each experience in their lives. It was around the time I had that “realization” that I knew what my life path was, and that is exactly what inspired “Familiar”. I wanted to help give animals a safe space to be that version of themselves, while helping their people show up for their loved ones when life gets busy! I’m just over a decade now, and it’s only up from here. 🐾

A bit about myself- I am the oldest sibling out of at four, with three cats of my own. They are my children and I will not hear otherwise.

I love story telling. In many phases of my life, it is stories that have carried me through. I am a nerd at heart. I collect manga (my favorite series are Fullmetal Alchemist and Noragami), am an avid and devout fan of Yoshi, and Kingdom Hearts is my favorite video game.

My spiritual beliefs are intrinsically linked to nature. I’ve found myself connected to my ancestors through my tarot decks and tracing back flavors they loved. Yes, “Familiar” is a little witchy. 🐈‍⬛

Scheduling

My schedule fluctuates rather constantly, depending on the bookings for that week. Day-to-day scheduling revolves around the pets I am caring for and carpooling with loved ones. For this reason I do not schedule exact times for drop-in’s, but rather ask for a general window that will work best for my arrival.

A Typical Day

Your animals will enjoy play time, mental enrichment and plenty of affection. By getting to know each animal, it allows me to personalize each and every drop-in to their specific needs. Some animals require mental stimulation and brain games. Others have anxiety, classical tunes when they are tired might help them wind down during a thunderstorm. Many animals have a favorite toy they might want to show off & play with. And as the quirky human I am, we may have a dance party. with my tendency to like to sing on the job, a duet is not out of the question.

Safety, Trust, and Environment

At Familiar Pet Care I strive to accommodate the needs of my clients. Getting to know each familiar, and understanding better what I can do for them, may take time, but I find joy in learning my clients’ quirks and building trust between us.

A quick note: For cats especially, I am very adamant about letting them come to me when they are ready. Sometimes clients take to me very quickly, but more often than not it is a prolonged process to win over their affection and trust. Building that may take a while, and that is okay!
